Governor Brown signed Senate Bill 1446 (DeSaulnier) today which allows small groups with non-grandfathered health plans that were in effect as of December 31, 2013 to continue to renew those plans until January 1, 2015 and to keep those plans in force until December 31, 2015. Known as “grandmothering”, this bill only applies to small groups that have not already switched to an ACA-compliant plan.
